A bit of information

The 2024 Ventia Hobart Cup will be held on Friday, 30th, Saturday, 31st August and Sunday, 1st September 2024.

Games are being played all over Hobart. Wentworth Park, Cornelian Bay, The Friends’ School (Bell Street), Queens Walk, Soldiers Memorial, Domain West, and Lower Queenborough. The tournament is organised by the Central Region Junior Football Association and the tournament Director is Victoria Morton. The tournament is sanctioned by Football Tasmania and supported by our wonderful naming rights sponsor Ventia. 

Any team whose players are registered with Football Australia are eligible to participate whether they are club, association or even school based. Grouping of teams into divisions will depend on the number of teams entered in that particular age group.

The entry fee for this tournament covers the costs of administration, maintenance, ground and facility hire, ambulance, referee fees, trophies and medallions.This tournament is held purely for the enjoyment and advancement of the children who participate. Everyone involved — whether a player, coach, team manager or spectator — is expected to follow the Codes of Conduct

Rules are adapted from the current FIFA and ALDI Mini Roos rules and accredited referees are appointed to all games.

There will be competitions for both Boys and Girls ranging from Under 8s to Under 16s.

There will be team trophies and medallions for winners and runners up of all Age Group Divisions courtesy of our sponsor Ventia. All Tournament trophies and medallions will be available for collection at The Friends School Sports Ground, Bell Street, New Town.

Quick Facts

  • Entry fee is $300 per team

  • We had 180 teams registered in the 2023 Ventia Hobart Cup

  • Each team will play a minimum of 4 games

  • Wherever possible, accredited referees will be appointed to youth games and game leaders will be provided for junior games. However, teams should be prepared to provide a referee if necessary.

  • Winner and Runner Up team trophies for all age groups. Medallions for players on Winning and Runner Up teams.

  • First aid on site

  • Refreshments available at each venue

Presentations on the Final Day

There will be no presentations on the day due to the complexity of having multiple venues.

Winning and Runner up teams will receive team trophies and individual medallions.

All team trophies, medallions and certificates will be available for collection from Bell Street (Friends Sports Ground), New Town.

2023

The Hobart Cup was held on 1-3 September 2023 and a total of 180 teams participated.

2022

The Hobart Cup was held on 2-4 September 2022 and a total of 161 teams participated.

2021

The Hobart Cup was held on 3-5 September 2021 and a total of 133 teams participated.

2020

Unfortunately we had to cancel the 2020 Hobart Cup due to the impact of the Covid-19 (SARS-2) pandemic.

2019

The Hobart Cup was held on 5-8 September 2019 and a total of 146 teams participated.

2018

The Hobart Cup was held on 15-16 September 2018 and a total of 105 teams participated.

Acknowledgment

The organisers of the Hobart Cup, alongside the parents, players and football community wish to acknowledge the deep connection to Country and Culture of the traditional custodians on the lands on which we meet, gather and play. For thousands of years, the nine nations of Tasmanian Aboriginal peoples have hunted, gathered, shared and practised Culture on these lands. We acknowledge the pakana palawa of  lutruwita and the Tasmanian Aboriginal communities today and always. We thank them for the history and culture of Country and pay our respect to Elders past, present and those to come.  It is a privilege to play on these beautiful and sacred lands and we are committed to form a part of and support the continued sharing of knowledge and Culture. We gather and play in the spirit of deep respect. Always was, always will be Aboriginal lands.
